Michael is a partner in the employment group at Wilson Petty Kosmo & Turner LLP, located in San Diego.  His employment law practice emphasizes litigation of harassment, discrimination and wrongful termination matters in state and federal court.  Michael also provides training to employers on employee discipline, investigations and procedures, and fair employment practices.  Michael frequently speaks and publishes articles on employment law issues, and was recently honored to be selected for inclusion in “Southern California Super Lawyers” for labor and employment attorneys. 

Michael was born in North Carolina and, as a Marine Corp brat, subsequently lived in Marine Corp vacation destinations such as Camp Lejeune, Okinawa and Camp Pendleton.  He attended the University of California in Los Angeles where he graduated with honors, earning a B.A. in political science.  Michael received his law degree from the University of California - Los Angeles in 1994.

Michael began his law career in 1994 working for Murphy Weir & Butler in San Francisco.  In 1996, he returned to San Diego and has worked at Wilson Petty Kosmo & Turner to the present. 

Michael has been a member of SHRM since 2000, and is looking forward to his first year on the Board as Vice President of Legislation.  Michael is keenly interested in politics, and looks forward to keeping the membership apprised of new legal and legislative developments.

Michael and his wife and three small children reside in Carmel Valley.  When not working, Michael’s enjoys snow boarding, body boarding, and sports and politics.
