Biography
Larry Thomas
During his 22 years in the US Marine Corps,
Larry gained invaluable HR experience by managing both
a Training/Organizational Development department and
a Retention Department for very large organizations.
Larry also brings a wealth of Global Human Resources
experience, having served on staff at
U.S. Embassies in Paris, France; Dakar, Senegal; and
Hamburg, Germany.
Larry is nationally certified as a Professional in
Human Resources Management and has a Six-Sigma Black
Belt in Process Improvement. A big supporter of the
Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), Larry
has been involved in the San Diego chapter since 2002.
He was honored recently to be elected as the Vice President
of Programs. He began volunteering with SD SHRM in 2003,
and has since been an A-Team Ambassador for the Workplace
Excellence Awards Committee multiple times.
Larry holds a Master of Science Degree in Human Resources
Management, from Troy State University and a Bachelor
of Arts in Psychology from the California State University
at San Marcos. He remains committed to his alma mater
and is the current President of the CSU San Marcos Alumni
Association. Larry previously served on the board as
the Vice President and as the Director of Communications.
Larry is as a lifetime member of Psi Chi, the national
honor society in psychology; a founding and lifetime
member of the CSU San Marcos Alumni Association, as
well as a member of the Cal-Alpha Gamma Chapter of Sigma
Alpha Epsilon fraternity
Originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma Larry now lives in
the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego, with his wife Janis,
son Alexander and daughter, Kajia.
