Alec Levenson, Ph.D.
ALEC LEVENSON is an Economist and Senior Research Scientist at the Center for Effective Organizations, Marshall School of Business, University of Southern California. Alec’s work combines the best elements of scientific research and practical, actionable knowledge that companies can use to improve performance. He draws from the disciplines of economics, strategy, organization behavior, and industrial-organizational psychology to tackle complex talent and organizational challenges that defy easy solutions. His recommendations focus on the actions organizations should take to make lasting improvements in critical areas. Alec’s research has been featured in numerous academic and business publications, and in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Economist, CNN, Associated Press, U.S. News and World Report, National Public Radio, Los Angeles Times, USA Today, Marketplace, Fox News, and many other news outlets. Alec has received research grants from the Sloan Foundation, Russell Sage Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, U.S. National Science Foundation, China National Science Foundation, and National Institute for Literacy. He received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Princeton University, specializing in Labor Economics and Development Economics, and his B.A. in Economics and Chinese language (double major) from University of Wisconsin-Madison. Dr. Bob Nelson
Few people have had the influence on the field of management and motivation as Dr. Bob Nelson. He is president of Nelson Motivation, Inc., co-founder of the National Association for Employee Recognition and previously worked closely with Dr. Ken Blanchard (The One Minute Manager) as his principal writer, co-author, chief of staff and vice president of The Ken Blanchard Companies for ten years.
Dr. Nelson sold some 3 million books on management and motivation, translated into over 25 languages, including 1001 Ways to Reward Employees (now in its 2nd edition and 54th printing), The 1001 Rewards & Recognition Fieldbook, 1001 Ways to Energize Employees, 1001 Ways to Take Initiative at Work, Managing For Dummies and The Management Bible. He holds an MBA in organizational behavior from UC Berkeley and received his Ph.D. in management from The Peter F. Drucker Graduate Management School at Claremont Graduate University in Los Angeles, where he worked closely with the late Dr. Peter Drucker on his doctoral studies.

Whether she is speaking to the newest on-boarding class or a group of guests at a Zappos Insights event, Marcela is passionate about creating and growing a culture of service, growth, and excellence. Sharing the Zappos culture with the world is Marcela’s number one priority. Formerly, Marcela was a member of the HR team at Pfizer in Columbia. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Social Psychology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia.
