Congratulations to our Newly Certified HR Professionals!
SD SHRM is pleased to announce close to 50 members successfully received their HR certification. These individuals made the professional commitment to take their HR careers to the next level. Many voluntarily met in the evenings for three hours weekly in prepatory study groups facilitated around the county for 12 weeks. SD SHRM members Gina Meuth, SPHR-CA and Lillian Wilkirson, SPHR-CA, Cole Williamson, GPHR, SPHR-CA, and Kathleen Fouts, SPHR-CA, facilitated these study groups.
In addition to classroom study and testing, theses professionals continued in individual and/or group study and were exposed to more than 1400 questions pertaining to the Human Resource Management body of knowledge as prescribed the Society for Human Resources Management. At the end of their course of study they took and passed a multiple hour exam resulting in their professional credentials.
Their credentials signify they have met a stated level of training and work experience. Certificate programs award certificates once a course of study has been completed and do not require previous work experience. Certifications like the PHR or SPHR differ from certificate programs because an experience component is a requirement. In order for the professional HR practitioners to maintain their credentials, they will retest in three years or gather the equivalent of continuing education units accepted by the credentialing organization, Human Resource Certification Institute (HR Certification Institute) over the next three-year period.
As certified individuals they will be issued a certificate attesting that they have met the standards of the credentialing organization, HRCI and are now entitled to make the public aware of their credentialed status, by the use of the PHR, SPHR or PHR-CA or SPHR-CA designation after their names. Please join the San Diego Chapter in congratulating these newly certified HR professionals who were published in the September The Resource newsletter. Each person received a complimentary invitation and was recognized at the September breakfast meetings for their accomplishment.
For those of interested in pursuing the next certification opportunity starting in the Fall 2013, please consult our website later this fall for more information. For testing information, go to www.hrci.org.
