Beyond Human Resources, Your Value Leap Friday, March 11, 2022 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Have you ever struggled to be on the same page as your non-HR leadership? Do you feel as if sometimes you’re being kept within the “HR box”? Mark Edington felt this way after beginning his human resources career following 9 years as a U.S. Marine Corps JAG attorney. He thought “Surely they will get what I’m trying to do and agree with me.” Sometimes, but usually that did not happen! This perplexed Mark and as he spent more time in HR, he discovered something obvious and yet elusive…how he presented himself solidified how he was perceived, especially the words he spoke. Mark also realized that he spent so much time doing HR, that he wasn’t learning what was more important to his non-HR leadership. Once Mark shifted into their thinking, he discovered that his value became more apparent to them. And nobody was teaching nor mentoring him this core thought process. If you are also finding that on occasion, or perhaps even more often than that, you feel separated from your non-HR leadership and are not sure why, then attending “Beyond Human Resource, Your Value Leap” will be an opportunity that will help you take more control over your professional value. Not just a presentation, but an engaging discussion…with some colleagues sharing in your experiences, and even possibly others describing how they are making the leap themselves. Join us and Take the Leap! Session Objectives - Identify the blindspots and limitations created by maintaining a strictly HR-focused perspective in performing any level of an HR role.
- Explore the pain points and thinking processes of business leaders that are typically overlooked by HR professionals at all levels.
- Identify ways for HR professionals to become more impactful in their career and be perceived as more valuable to the organization by shifting into a shared business-HR thought process, resulting in a greater ability to be influential in guiding organizational health.
