Our panel will discuss what you have outlined as the DEI topic focus, specifically, our perspective and/or action items that we have seen our clients do within their companies to create powerful, inclusive, and equitable work environments. We will cover subtopics such as: cultural sensitivity, unconscious bias, jurisdiction limitations, equity issues, mentorship/returnship programs, employee networks, training opportunities and more.

Monica Ghiglia, Fragomen, Senior Associate, panel moderator. Monica represents a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from foreign investors to multinational corporate clients, with their immigration needs. She assists clients with the management of nonimmigrant and immigrant visa programs and advises them on I-9/E-Verify compliance, updates on the latest immigration procedures and trends, and the development of sound immigration policies.

Karine Wenger,
Fragomen, Partner, panel speaker. Karine serves as corporate immigration counsel to a wide range of clients, from small domestic entities to large multinational corporations in varying industries. She has proven leadership skills in building collaborative relationships, strategic thinking, and leading in times of change and growth, and provides cutting-edge immigration solutions to corporate clients. She counsels clients on all matters of U.S. immigration and nationality law, regulation, policy and compliance. Karine has practiced exclusively in the field of U.S. corporate immigration and nationality law since 1999.

Allison Garrett, Qualcomm, Manager, Inclusion and Diversity, panel speaker. Allison oversees compliance and reporting efforts related to Qualcomm’s federal contractor and other legal obligations. She is also a former summer intern for Qualcomm’s Human Resources and legal departments. Prior to returning to Qualcomm, Allison was an employment-defense litigator for nearly 6 years. Allison represented employers on a variety of labor and employment issues in California state and federal court as an associate attorney for Littler Mendelson, P.C., the largest global employment and labor law practice devoted exclusively to representing management. Allison earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History, with a minor in English from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She also earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of San Diego, School of Law and is admitted to the California State Bar. Allison is a San Diego native and enjoys spending time outside with her husband, son, and Great Dane.
