People join organizations, but they leave bosses. Ineffective leadership is costing companies $360 billion a year in stress-related health expenses, productivity losses, and the costs associated with rehiring. While IQ and technical skills are essential, EQ was found to be twice as important as these competencies for jobs at all levels in a study of over 200 global companies. A leader’s ability to build strong relationships with those they lead is paramount when it comes to engagement, performance, motivation and retention. Emotional Intelligence coupled with leadership principles are the secret sauce to thriving, profitable and sustainable organizations. In this session, I will introduce the four pillars of EQ leadership and unpack some of the most essential skills for building an Emotionally Intelligent organization

Elise Boggs is a certified Emotional Intelligence coach, Professor of Leadership, and a leadership coach and consultant. Over the last 15 years, I’ve supported the development of thousands of leaders across many different industries including the military (working with U.S. Navy Seals), medicine, law enforcement, engineering, technology, education, and entertainment – and I’ve seen incredible results.

I started my career in the non-profit sector where I oversaw an unpaid staff of over 300 volunteers. This was my “lab” for learning what drives people to engage and perform at high levels. I tested out different leadership approaches and when my volunteers began to outperform the paid staff, I knew I was on to something!

Since then, I’ve made it my mission to help bridge the gap in knowledge for intelligent, competent, high-achieving leaders – leaders who are feeling stuck and frustrated because they are not getting the results they know they are capable of from their teams.  No matter your industry, becoming a skilled leader will profoundly impact the team you are able to create and the results you can achieve.

I hold a Masters Degree in Organizational Leadership and Development and am a certified coach in: Emotional Intelligence, SDI (Strengths Deployment Inventory) and Appreciative Inquiry.

I reside in sunny San Diego with my husband Hector.
