October 24, 2019

10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Managing employees who struggle with alcoholism, substance abuse, or mental health issues is tricky. All these conditions potentially constitute disabilities that employers are required to accommodate, but they can also result in policy violations, performance deficiencies, excessive absences, and workplace injuries or even violence that employers are not required to tolerate. This session will explore the employemnt laws implicated by alcoholism, substance abuse, or mental health issues, and it will provide practical guidance and strategies employers can use to address  these conditions with employees.

Jennifer P. Suberlak is an associate with Pettit Kohn Ingrassia Lutz & Dolin. Her practice focuses on employment and labor counseling and litigation.  Jennifer helps employers manage the day-to-day issues arising in the employment context, craft and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance, and navigate the litigation process.
