Understanding and Navigating the Role of Culture in the Workplace October 24, 2019 3:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. Every interaction in the workplace is cross-cultural. Culture is a complex mix of language, gender, age, religion, social norms, and family rules. Culture influences the way we speak, behave, view others, and see the concept of fairness. It has a subtle yet powerful influence on all interactions. This program will take a practical look at the role of culture in the workplace, including ways to identify classic cultural perspectives and ways to manage them in the workplace. For more than 25 years, Mr. Relyea has served as a professional mediator and workplace investigator. He has worked with and trained people as mediators from the Far East (Japan, China, Malaysia), the Near East (Jordan, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Pakistan), India (Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai) and Western Europe (France, Italy, Germany, Denmark). He will demonstrate ways that understanding and navigating through cultural differences can enhance work relationships, resolve disputes, and contribute to a positive work culture.
