This session will examine case law, legislation, and guidance regarding the extent to which an employer may make personnel decisions based on employees’ conduct outside of work. Discussion topics will include social media, drug and alcohol use, political and/or social engagement, and personal and/or romantic relationships.

Jennifer Suberlak is an employment attorney with the law firm of Pettit Kohn Ingrassia Lutz & Dolin. Her practice focuses on employment and labor counseling and litigation. She represents a diverse spectrum of California employers statewide and helps employers manage the day-to-day issues arising in the employment context, craft and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance, and navigate the litigation process. Jennifer also provides harassment prevention training for California employers. She earned her J.D. degree at the University of California Los Angeles School of Law where she was the chief managing editor of the Women’s Law Journal. Throughout her career, she has spoken on a wide range of employment related topics. |
