Volunteering

Thank you for landing on our San Diego SHRM volunteer page. We hope that you have an interest in volunteering with SDSHRM. Our members’ generous contributions of time and talent have played a huge role in making San Diego SHRM successful. We work closely with our volunteers to support, promote and develop the human resource field in our community. Volunteers gain experience in HR and foster professional relationships. In addition, our volunteers enjoy the satisfaction of helping advance the interests of those who manage the human assets of businesses, agencies and organizations.

As work and personal obligations often affect our members’ ability to volunteer, San Diego SHRM offers opportunities ranging from short-term commitments to annual positions. Get in the spirit of volunteering for rewarding experiences that yield both professional growth and personal satisfaction.

All volunteers must be a member in good standing of San Diego SHRM.

If you are interested in volunteering, please fill out the Volunteer Registration Form.

veteran Career Transition Assistance Program (VetCTAP)

Do you want to volunteer and give back to your community by helping those who have served our country? The Veteran Career Transition Assistance Program (VetCTAP) is a free eight-module workshop series for active duty military, veterans and spouses of all branches of the military that are entering the civilian job market. The modules provide hands-on training, coaching and tools to prepare participants for a successful transition. What makes VetCTAP successful is YOU, the HR Professional. Most facilitators and coaches are HR practitioners and many are SD SHRM members.

If you are interested in sharing your time and expertise as a coach in this program at either of our locations in Rancho Bernardo or Oceanside, visit www.vetctap.org or emailbetsy@vetctap.org.

TESTIMONIALS FROM VETCTAP COACHES

The professional benefits I've received from working with transitioning veterans as a volunteer at VetCTAP are legion. Contributing to the transformation of the participants from apprehensive, potential job seekers to polished, confident, qualified candidate in only 4 weeks is tremendously gratifying! I look forward to volunteering with VetCTAP for years to come

Working with veterans in VetCTAP has given me an entirely enriched perspective on hiring and interviewing. It has helped focus on a broader set of possibilities than the most familiar and I have met some amazing people! It is very rewarding to be a part of this program!
